The Ostawk are a species of flightless, ostrich-like birds who are ubiquitous across the continent. Unlike real ostriches, however, the Ostawk are predatory birds. Using their large and powerful legs, these creatures are able to run at speeds nearing 30 mph. They typically live in matriarchal flocks of up to 50 birds lead by an alpha hen. These creatures will hunt for the week or elderly in their flocks, leading to a complex social structure of rank.
Adult Ostawks typically live 10-15 years and are hardy creatures. Ostawks are commonly raised on farms, both for their ability to transport goods and their eggs. Unlike normal birds, Ostawks don't have hollow bones and can easily carry up to their weight in cargo. |
